The Diocese of Moosonee...called by God to Live and Proclaim the Gospel

Incumbent, St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Wemindji, Quebec

The Archbishop of Moosonee, The Most Rev. Anne Germond, is now accepting applications for the position of full time incumbent at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Wemindji, Quebec.  Wemindji is part of the James Baie Deanery in Moosonee which extends on the West and East Coast of James Bay.

The parish selection committee is hoping to receive an indigenous priest to be their new incumbent as services are held in Moose Cree as well as in East Coast Cree. The ability to ‘equip the saints for the work of ministry’, and to grow a team of leaders are much sought after qualities in the new incumbent.

The parish are looking to their new incumbent to teach and prepare candidates for baptism, couples for marriage, and youth for confirmation will be an asset.  They would like to see some of the younger families in the parish and more youth becoming involved in parish life.

There is a strong leadership team in place at St. John’s and it is the community’s desire to expand their leadership circle. The parish also hopes to train new lay readers to provide additional services in the community at elders homes.

The present church is a very modern building, having been built in 1985, with an extension added on in 2009. The parish profile is attached.
